Nephrology and Urology for the Pediatrician by Drs Gauthier, Edelmann, and Barnett is an attractive book that successfully fulfills its mission to aid pediatricians and family practitioners in understanding a wide range of pediatric renal and urologic problems and in gaining confidence to assume greater responsibility in the diagnosis and treatment of these disorders.
The book is well written, most notably because each subject is dealt with lucidly and briefly. Repetition has been avoided because cross-referencing has been done with great care. The book is extremely well organized, being divided into four main sections. The first section not only describes the signs and symptoms often associated with renal or urologic disease, but also describes in some detail the nonrenal causes of such signs and symptoms. The second section describes the clinical features of specific renal and urologic abnormalities and has some well-written sections on basic entities such as urinary tract
