In Reply.—  I appreciate Dr Epstein's comments concerning the association between mucocutaneous herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections and recurrent bouts of erythema multiforme. Indeed, immune complexes containing antibody and HSV antigen have been found in serum samples from patients with this syndrome.1
