To the Editor.—
In my article entitled "Tutankhamun and His Brothers" (1980;244:160), I suggested that AB-MN blood-typing of the mummy previously known as "The Elder Lady" but identified in 1978 as Queen Tiye might strengthen the theory that she was Tutankhamun's mother. A report on this serological examination has been published.1 The same authors who in 1969 developed a microserological method for blood-typing have now reported on their additional examinations of Tutankhamun's family; all of the available mummies of that kinship have now been blood-typed.The possibility that Tiye was Tut's mother remains after the recent serological typing. Certainty is likely to continue to be elusive.
