Abstract

In Reply.—  With regard to the comments of Drs Carter and Cook, a comprehensive history of the 27 patients with burning mouth was in fact undertaken but, because of limited space, was not reported. Many of the signs and symptoms suggested by these authors were not noted in the patient histories, but a specific detailed clinical workup as outlined by them had not been undertaken. Moreover, as I had already suggested in my letter, further investigation along these lines did indeed seem warranted, and studies are now under way to look for these factors.
