To the Editor.—  The article entitled "Turtle-Associated Salmonellosis in Puerto Rico"1 dealt with the exportation of pet turtles and the dissemination of human salmonellosis. The taxonomy of these turtles referred to should be brought up to date. Most herpetologists2,3 now classify these red-eared sliders as Chrysemys scripta-elegans rather than Pseudemys scripta-elegans.
