—In the Original Contribution entitled "Alcohol-Related Hospitalizations of Elderly People: Prevalence and Geographic Variation in the United States," published in the September 8, 1993, issue of The Journal (1993;270:1222-1225), incorrect data on the number and percentage of alcohol-related hospitalizations were reported. On page 1223, the first two sentences of the "Results" section should read as follows: "There were 112406 alcohol-related hospitalizations among 87147 elderly Medicare patients in 1989. These admissions accounted for 1.1% of all hospitalizations in that age group. In 33 039 of those cases (29%), an alcohol-related diagnosis was the primary diagnosis listed."
