Abstract

The Fortieth Annual Meeting of this Association will be held at Newport, R. I., on Tuesday, the 25th of June, 1889, instead of the first Tuesday in June, as appointed at the meeting in Cincinnati, for the reasons previously mentioned in The Journal. Next year will also be the 250th anniversary of the settlement of Newport, and all circumstances favor a meeting of the Association of unusual interest. The Rhode Island State Society is cordially coöperating with the Local Committee of Arrangements. We are informed that acceptances have been received from each of the gentlemen elected to deliver the general addresses at the meeting in Newport. The Address in Medicine will be given by Professor Wm. Pepper, of Philadelphia; the Address in Surgery by Professor P. S. Connor, of Cincinnati; and the Address in State Medicine by Professor W. H. Welch, of Baltimore.
