—In opening the Second Session of the Section of Dermatology and Syphilography of the American Medical Association, I must first express my thanks publicly to the gentlemen who at the last session so kindly called me the second time to preside over your deliberations, an honor which was as unexpected as it was gratifying. I must also congratulate you, and, I believe, the profession at large, upon the interest which the Section has developed, and express the hope that by its means the large and important field of study and practice which is here represented may be simplified, so that diseases of the
