This book contains brief though well worded descriptions of the usual methods of preparing gynecologic patients for operation, and of the after-treatment of the first few days, for the guidance mainly of the nurse. Following these is a description of operations, much of which is intended for the hospital intern and the assistant to the operator. Eighty-five of the 140 pages deal entirely with the technic of operations, and considerably more than a fourth of these are devoted to the description of operations not related to gynecology, for instance, operations on the gallbladder, stomach, intestine, kidney and spleen. With the description of each operation is an illustration showing all the instruments used for that operation. As a result, the same instruments are shown over and over again.
