It is twenty-five years since the first American edition of Professor Strümpell's text-book was published and ten years since the third American edition, translated from the fourteenth German edition, appeared. The present is the fourth American edition, corresponding to the seventeenth German edition. These facts are an evidence of the well-deserved popularity of this text-book, both in America and in Europe. The present edition has been brought well up to date by the addition of articles on the "fourth disease," Malta fever, Rocky Mountain fever and pellagra. The editors have also included a section on mental diseases, which are of interest to the general practitioner. The present edition, we are sure, will be accorded the same favorable reception as its predecessors.
