Salvarsan does not have the effect at first heralded. It is not the therapia magna sterilisans which at one blow effects the destruction of all the spirochetes in the blood-stream. To be sure, in certain cases, but these I believe to be very few, it causes a complete disappearance of symptoms, which seems to be permanent. The accompanying tabulated results are transcribed, for the greater part, from my protocol of Wassermann reactions done in the First Dermatologic Clinic, Vienna, during last fall. The other cases are all my own, observed and studied in chicago.
