Forty-second Annual Meeting, held at Washington, D. C., May 5-8, 1891.
General Session—First Day.The Association assembled May 5 at Albaugh's Opera House, Washington, D. C., at 10 A.M. It was called to order by Dr. D. C. Patterson, Chairman of the Committee of Arrangements; who introduced Rev. S. M. Newman, D.D., of the First Congregational Church, who offered a prayer. The Hon. John W. Ross, Commissioner of the District of Columbia, welcomed the Association to Washington. The Chairman of the Committee of Arrangements, announced the programme and other arrangements for the meetings.The President, Dr. William T. Briggs, Tenn., took the Chair, supported by Vice-President Dr. C. A. Lindsley, Conn., and ex Presidents Drs. T. G. Richardson, W. W. Dawson and P. O. Hooper.The President then delivered the
