Abstract

The tenth annual report of this series covers the year ending October 31, 1891. It is an attractive volume of 270 pages, issued under the careful editorship of Dr. Irving A. Watson, secretary of the board. Mr. George E. Waring of Newport, R. I., gives an illustrated report on the sewerage of Laconia and Keene, showing how special difficulties in drainage were overcome. Dr. D. M. Currier has a paper on the heating and ventilation of the common schools, in that northerly section where an especial degree of attention is demanded in order to keep the air of the schools pure as well as warm in winter. This problem the writer believes to have been fairly well mastered in the use of what are called " jacketed stoves", such as have been in use in Massachusetts in late years. Diagrams are published with the article, fully explaining points in the construction
