Abstract

ALABAMA.  Dr. John W. Barclay, Birmingham, was seriously injured in a runaway a short time ago. His arm was broken and he sustained severe contusions.The Alabama Brice Insane Hospital, Tuscaloosa, now contains 1670 patients, 1209 of whom are white, and 461 colored. The colored patients are to be removed in a short time to the new hospital at Mount Vernon.

Want Their Own Physician.  —There is prospect of trouble at the Warner coal mines of the Republic Iron and Steel Company because the men desire a physician agreeable to them, and the company is so far non-committal in this particular.The New Hillman Hospital, Birmingham, is to be located at 20th street and Avenue F. The contract for the erection of the building was let on August 26. It is to be four stories in height, and the contract calls for its completion within four months.
