This work is a leading English publication on its subject. The changes which have been made as given by the author are condensation where possible and such slight alterations as the advances of rectal surgery require, chiefly in the matter of excision of the rectum and inguinal colotomy. The work is rather full in its notice of American literature, though it makes no mention whatever of Martin's valves, the existence of which is one of the much discussed questions among American proctologists. The work is well issued by Wood and Company, and ought to be a useful addition to American literature on the subiect.
