Abstract

The action taken by The Journal in regard to the proprietary and secret nostrums is having the effect of arousing to action those interested in these products. They are actively at work with the object of getting control of the Section on Materia Medica, Pharmacy and Therapeutics of the American Medical Association next month, and to accomplish this they are sending circular letters broadcast. Those addressed are editors of certain medical journals whose support comes only from their advertising pages, drug journals, and physicians whose influence they are hoping to get. Well-known secret nostrum houses of St. Louis and New York are especially energetic, and spare neither postage stamps nor even telegraph tolls.
