Preventing Falls in Acute Care Hospitals

JAMA. 2011;305(7):671-672. doi:10.1001/jama.2011.138

To the Editor: Dr Dykes and colleagues reported a reduction in both the rate of falls and number of patients who sustained falls while admitted to acute care hospital units after the introduction of a computer program that produced tailored bedside posters, patient leaflets, and care plans based on the components of the Morse Falls Scale.1 We have some difficulties in interpreting the results of this trial.
