To the Editor:—
As a member of American Medical Association and American Association for the Advancement of Science, I protest the printing of the letter from Dr. Saunders in The Journal of March 8, 1965 (191:865). The true reward for scientific research is within the person—and not through awards. Having personally listened to dissertations by Nathan S. Kline, MD, concerning his work with MAO inhibitors, I must say that had the situation been reversed, Dr. Kline would have congratulated Dr. Saunders and said nothing more.
