Atlas of Pulmonary Resections would seem to provide needed information to young men in thoracic surgery. The book is a concise, systematic review of pulmonary resection techniques including pneumonectomy, lobectomy, and segmental resection, which are covered very well. While there are other books available on this general subject, there is none which covers it so completely. To be sure, the diagrams are not as clear as they might be, but they do provide the necessary information. A longer and more detailed section on anatomy would also strengthen the presentation. The descriptions for the diagrams are clear and to the point. The techniques that the authors describe are current and are universally accepted.
This book will certainly provide an excellent addition to the knowledge available for residents and others in thoracic surgery who are learning and developing their teachniques of pulmonary resection.
