1964 Medical Disciplinary Report

Abstract

The Judicial Council presents herewith its Fifth Annual Report on Medical Disciplinary Actions. In its constant concern in the area of medical discipline, the Council conducts an annual survey of disciplinary actions taken by state medical societies and state boards of medical examiners. The Council wishes to express its gratitude to all who have cooperated in this survey.

Tables 1 and 2 reflect the disciplinary actions taken by each state medical society and state board of medical examiners during the calendar year 1964. In Tables 3 and 4 totals are compared with the totals for the previous four years.

The five-year average of the total number of actions taken by state medical societies is approximately 126 per year, including 6 expulsions and 11 suspensions. The state boards averaged 487 actions over each of the past five years, including 80 revocations annually.
