Trioxsalen is used to stimulate repigmentation of vitiliginous areas upon exposure to sun or ultraviolet light, and to enhance pigment formation in fair-skinned persons. The dosage of this drug and exposure to light must be carefully regulated to prevent burning. No other photosensitizing agents should be given to patients receiving trioxsalen, and the drug is contraindicated in disease associated with photosensitivity.
