Information about the field of continuing medical education, as in past years, is provided chiefly through analysis of the annual listing, "Continuing Education Courses for Physicians." This year's listing, the 12th annual one to be published, appeared in the Aug 8, 1966, issue of The Journal, and covered the period from Sept 1, 1966, through Aug 31, 1967. Reprints of the listing are available on request from the AMA Department of Medical Education. The analysis of course data given below is of courses scheduled to be presented, which is not necessarily the same thing as courses actually presented. Reporting of the scheduled courses is entirely voluntary on the part of the institutions offering those courses. Questionnaires are distributed annually to all interested institutions in the spring of the year and all courses reported on regular questionnaires are listed, with no implication of approval of those courses.
