Report of the Committee to Study the Scientific Sections and the Scientific Program of the AMA  The Board of Trustees is pleased to present to the House of Delegates a report of major significance relating to the organization structure and the scientific program of the Association.This report makes recommendations for changes in the Scientific Sections, the duties and responsibilities of the Council on Scientific Assembly, relations with specialty organizations and specialty boards, and in other areas, which, if adopted by the House and fully implemented, will significantly improve our scientific program and organizational efficiency.The Council on Scientific Assembly has long recognized that AMA's scientific programming has suffered from the splintering effect of specialization and the competition from numerous other scientific meetings. The Board believes that the changes recommended will enable the Council to utilize resources available to American medicine that have not heretofore been mobilized effectively and
