In the Questions and Answers section of the Dec 28 issue of The Journal (186:1184) a discussion appeared regarding the generation of ozone by ultraviolet lamps. The last sentence of the second paragraph should have read, "... much more ozone is generated and may be harmful in a small room...." In regard to this discussion it may also be noted that the Department of Medical Physics and Rehabilitation of the American Medical Association has found ozone generators unacceptable because of ozone's toxic action. Ozone generators for the production of ozone are not recommended for use as disinfectants or deodorants, for control of fungus growth in cold storage areas, or to counteract carbon monoxide in garages.
