Abstract

To the Editor:  —I was much interested in the editorial in The Journal, October 29, on the growth promoting properties of heated and of raw milk. I find in this editorial, and rather generally in articles dealing with nutrition researches carried on by medical men, a failure to utilize readily accessible clinical information very directly related to nutritional problems. I have reference to the condition of the teeth.You are, of course, familiar with the fact that many physicians and dentists are convinced that dental disease may be largely controlled by dietary means through the medium of the effect of diet on the nutrition of the body. It is a common observation of dentists that children living on diets which contain all the presumably important vitamins and necessary mineral elements still are subject to caries and gingival disorders.
