New York Medical College To Establish Heart Center
New York Medical College has announced it will sponsor the formation of the Heart Institute, a $30 million hospital and research center to be built at 106th and 107th Sts., Fifth to Madison Aves., in New York City. The marble and glass structure will house research and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Its program of study will include congenital heart disease, rheumatic heart disease, degenerative heart disease and hypertensive heart disease, officials said.Dr. Ralph E. Snyder, president and dean of the New York Medical College, announced that Dr. Robert A. O'Connor, assistant dean of the college, will be administrative director of the Heart Institute. The executive staff is to be announced shortly.The building will be twin 24-story towers connected by a four-story base, with an additional five floors below ground.
