To determine whether the prevalence of diabetes has increased between 2001 and 2009, Dabelea and coauthors compared the number of diagnoses among youth living in 4 geographical areas and 1 managed health care plan, representing more than 3 million youth from birth to 19 years, and found that the prevalence of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes had increased.
