In Reply We appreciate the thoughtful letter by Zemplenyi and Wei about our article.1 They propose our analysis should have used risk differences (RDs) instead of odds ratios (ORs) for pooled estimates. The appropriate summary statistic for meta-analysis has been highly debated in the literature.2 However, per Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines, use of any of 3 summary statistics (ie, OR, risk ratio [RR], or RD) is appropriate for binary outcomes.3
