In Reply We appreciate the thoughtful letter by Levy et al regarding our study.1 The authors are correct that the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision (ICD-10) code for type 2 myocardial infarction (MI; I21.A1) is not explicitly included in value-based programs, such as the Hospital Readmission Reduction Program (HRRP) and Hospital Value-Based Purchasing Program, at least when used as the primary diagnosis code for hospitalization. The primary diagnosis codes included are I21.01, I21.02, I21.09, I21.11, I21.19, I21.21, I21.29, I21.3, I21.4, and I21.9.2 Nevertheless, we believe that patients with type 2 MI are still currently included in value-based programs.
