In Reply We thank Hayek and colleagues for their interest in our work on cardiovascular biomarkers in the early discrimination of type 2 myocardial infarction (T2MI) from type 1 MI (T1MI).1 We fully agree that patients with T1MI may present earlier than patients with T2MI, resulting in different stages of disease biology during the serial blood sampling in the emergency department (ED).
