Lupus pernio is a specific sarcoidosis skin lesion characterized by violaceous indurated plaques primarily affecting the central face. It is a hallmark of chronic disease, and treatment remains challenging because conventional therapies often fail.
We describe a 57-year-old white female patient with a history of biopsy-proven sarcoidosis affecting the lungs and skin. No treatment was required for pulmonary involvement. On physical examination, a disfiguring erythematous to violaceous indurated plaque with a central crusted area was found on her nose (Figure). compatible with lupus pernio.
