Human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8) has been identified in Kaposi sarcoma, as well as in various forms of extracutaneous lymphoproliferative disorders in patients with or without human immunodeficiency virus infection.1-3 In 13 cases of cutaneous B-cell lymphoma (CBCL) tested so far, the presence of HHV-8 could not be demonstrated.4,5 We investigated formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded biopsy specimens from 50 patients with primary CBCL for the presence of HHV-8 using a nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique followed by Southern blot hybridization.
