The epidermis appears thin. An area of atrophy or degeneration of the epidermis is present with a zone of underlying anuclear collagen. A dermal perivascular infiltration of lymphocytes and histiocytes appears with an increase in mucin among collagen bundles.
Malignant atrophic papulosis, also known as Degos disease, is a fatal syndrome that was first described in 1941 by Köhlmeier1 and in 1942 by Degos et al.2 Since then, slightly more than 100 cases have been reported in the literature.
