I am pleased that my article in the ARCHIVES generated so many responses. A critical look at the morality of cosmetic surgery for aging is long overdue. Many issues were raised in response to my essay. Most were thoughtful and sincere; others were misinterpretations or misrepresentations. Although I would like to reply in detail to each response, limitations of space preclude this. Therefore, I will limit my reply by focusing on a single issue: values.
