The diagnosis of Alzheimer disease is based on clinical criteria.1 There is no laboratory test to confirm it. Recently, Bruno et al2 reported their results from examining hair samples from patients and their relatives.
We studied 40 hair samples: 20 from patients with Alzheimer disease (mean [± SEM] age, 77 ± 85 years; 4 women and 1 man) and 20 from patients without dementia (mean age, 83.3 ± 7 years; 4 women and 1 man).
