Dr Geyser had a great idea. This was not it. Granted, his remark presaged the link between gluten and dermatitis herpetiformis by over half a century, but neither Dr Geyser nor anyone else bothered to pursue his suggestion that this patient’s improvement was due not to the milk diet itself, but rather something the milk diet lacked. Perhaps Dr Geyser did not follow up on his gut instinct because he had much bigger fish to fry.
