Microscopic examination revealed a partially polypoid lesion with marked proliferation of lobules of small basaloid cells extending to the deep dermal level, sharply demarcated from surrounding epidermis. There were foci of clear cell change, as well as areas with marked nuclear pleomorphism and increased mitotic activity. Foci of necrosis en masse were identified, and crypts with neutrophils extended into portions of the tumor. There were also chronic inflammation and associated fibrosis consistent with a scar.
