To the Editor I enjoyed reading the article by Nichols et al1 on using the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine for the prevention of keratinocyte carcinomas (KCs). They found that 2 patients given the HPV vaccine had a large decrease in both squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) (about 65%) and basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) (100%). However, further study details are needed to clarify whether the HPV vaccine is indeed a magic bullet or if the results are due to selection bias.
