Delusions of Parasitosis as an Overvalent Idea

Philip K. Dick (1928-1982) was an American author known for science fiction. Themes explored in his work include the nature of reality, identity, and perception. Though he did not commonly address dermatologic topics, Dick provides insight on fixed ideas which come to dominate the mind. This can be a perspective for understanding delusions of parasitosis and the therapeutic challenge it poses. In The Transmigration of Timothy Archer,1(pp97-99) he writes:
