Musicians are susceptible to various injuries. The nature of the injury depends on the instrument in use, conditioning, and technique of playing the instrument.1 We report a case of trumpet cheilitis in a novice musician who was using an ill-fitting mouthpiece of a brass trumpet and was playing the instrument for excessive hours without proper conditioning. With rest and antibiotic treatment, he recovered; when he gradually began playing again with a well-fitting mouthpiece, he remained symptom free.
