The recent Vignette by Shan and coworkers1 features dramatic before-and-after pictures of a disease “never . . . reported in the English-language literature”1(p1070) that has been designated cutaneous dirt-adherent disease in Chinese. To our eyes, it is the same entity reported by Poskitt et al2 15 years ago as dermatitis neglecta. The old adage of “never say never” remains a good one.
