Recent trends in dermatology include an evolving workforce, with dermatologists currently representing approximately 1% of the total number of physicians in the United States.1 We report the geographic density of dermatologists in the United States. Data were obtained from the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) membership database, which contains 9598 practicing American dermatologists, including fellows, associates, and osteopathic boarded affiliates. The AAD database includes deidentifying information consisting of zip codes, cities, and states of members. Dermatologist to population ratios were calculated using the AAD data and population data obtained from the US Census Bureau.
