Doctors Aly and Maibach, well-known experts on cutaneous infections, have enlisted a distinguished group of 24 authors to prepare this comprehensive atlas and text on skin infections. Most aspects of fungal, bacterial, and viral skin infections are authoritatively and enjoyably addressed in the atlas. The stated purpose of the work is to "provide guidelines to clinicians and health workers for the early recognition of skin diseases." This difficult goal is achieved satisfactorily, especially for fungal infections. Approximately one half of the figures are devoted to various aspects of cutaneous fungal infection, including an emphasis on diagnostic mycology. Special attention has also been given to differential diagnosis and "look-alike cutaneous manifestations."
