THE PURPOSE of Evidence-Based Dermatology is to alert clinicians to important advances in dermatology by selecting from the biomedical literature articles whose results are most likely to be true and useful. These articles are summarized in structured, value-added abstracts, commented on by knowledgeable clinicians, and disseminated in a timely fashion to clinicians. We will also periodically publish articles relevant to understanding clinical research (eg, articles explaining statistical power and sample size, confidence intervals, observational clinical-epidemiologic studies, effectiveness and efficiency, and meta-analysis). A glossary of research terms will be provided as needed.
