The fact that this is the eighth edition of this work on bacteriology is sufficient evidence of the esteem in which it is held. As originally published, it was based on the practical experience of the bacteriologic laboratories of the city of New York, and doubtless the practical emphasis which this basis of production gave it is largely responsible for its popularity. It covers not only bacteriology, but all forms of pathogenic micro-organisms. It is a highly useful book.
