Abstract

Bacterial Investigations and Determination of Bacterial Resistance to Antibiotics. By M. Welsch. Price, $1.38. Pp. 98. Georg Thieme Verlag, Herdweg 63, (14a) Stuttgart N (American Zone), Germany, 1960.

These are 2 inexpensive, paperbacked pocket editions. The first discusses the serologic reactions in a wide variety of diseases including brucellosis, tularemia, soft chancre, leprosy, infectious mononucleosis, lymphogranuloma venereum, and mycotic diseases.

The Welsch booklet describes the methods of examination of pathologic material for bacterial content. It also gives in considerable detail determinations of resistance of the bacteria found to various antibiotics. Both booklets are precise and informative.
