Abstract

The lesions of elastosis perforans serpiginosa may be symmetrically disposed. An illustrative case is presented. The significance of this potentiality in postulating the origin of elastosis perforans serpiginosa is discussed. Symmetry of lesions indicates either a genetic defect or an acquired embryopathy, with the defect or its precursor being impressed before the 18th day of embryonic life.
