Lichen Planus With Generalized Koebner Phenomenon. Presented by LCdr D. L. Baxter, MC, USN and (by invitation) LT C. F. Payne, MC, USN.
The patient is a 21-year-old white man, tall and well nourished, and normally developed. His father and several paternal aunts and uncles are diabetic. Mother and two siblings are alive and well.
Past history reveals patient was confined to bed for six months at the age of five years because of a cardiac murmur.
In mid-August, a pruritic red papule appeared on the right wrist and slowly eventuated into a small plaque. In late September, a blistering eruption of the hands and feet was diagnosed as dyshidrotic eczema and responded to treatment with soaks, a hydrocortisone-iodochlorohydroxyquinoline (Vioform) cream and meprobamate. In mid-October, a generalized pruritic eruption developed shortly after working for an 80-hour period to unload cargo aircraft in Cuba.
