This case report demonstrates the evolution of a zoster eruption in a patient with atopic dermatitis. The atopic host reacts to a superimposed zoster infection in the usual manner without serious sequelae in contrast to vaccinia and herpes simplex which produce Kaposi's varicelliform eruption.
