This work represents an attempt to organize in a single volume a comprehensive review of immunologic thought and fact as perceived at the present time. The particular aim as stated by the editors is to "orientate the rapidly expanding mass of data and ideas of present day immunology to the points where they impinge on clinical medicine." In general it can be stated that the task has been well done. Nearly every chapter can be profitably read by someone with an interest in the various topics that are covered. Each chapter contains a reasonably extensive yet selective bibliography which will prove valuable for anyone desiring more detailed information. The indexing is quite adequate.
